It was just before 4 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Two gunmen were robbing the Tumbleweed convenience store at 27th Avenue and Indian School Road.

“A very scary robbery,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Darren Burch said. “They have guns, they’re screaming at the clerk to give them money, they want the keys to the safe.”

Burch said these guys took their time. They were inside the store for a while.

“A delivery driver, we believe, walked in on the crime in progress,” he said. “They grabbed him, forced him to the floor. Very, very dangerous and very brazen. Two suspects we need to get off the streets.”

Next, help police solve the murder of David Cruz. He was known as Reeko.

“He loved music and he was an artist,” Burch said. “He was getting his GED to better himself. Reeko was 26 years old.”

On, July 25, 2012, Mesa police officers were dispatched to a shots-fired call near Brown Road and Mesa Drive. Inside the apartment, they found Reeko dead.

Witnesses saw three black males running from the apartment and driving off in a dark-colored sedan.

Reeko’s family is increasing the reward to $5,000 hoping for some leads.
