PHOENIX — It’s time to get your last runs in for the season: A resort in eastern Arizona announced it is bringing its 2017 ski season to an end.
In a Tuesday email, Sunrise Park Resort, located near Pinetop-Lakeside, said it would call it a season after the upcoming weekend.
The resort is offering half-day rates through Sunday.
Sunrise has been slowly shutting down skier access to its three peaks this month, despite receiving as much as 6 inches of fresh snow as recently as last week. Only Sunrise Peak remains open for skiers and snowboarders.
Anyone planning to head to the resort this weekend should be prepared for a chance of snow. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of the white stuff on Friday and a 50 percent chance on Saturday.
Highs will be in the mid-30s and overnight lows will slip into the low 20s.
For those who aren’t ready to close the book on the 2017 ski season, Arizona Snowbowl, located near Flagstaff, previously announced it would be open on weekends only through April. The mountain is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
