PHOENIX — Two people have been declared dead late Thursday night following a pedestrian-involved car accident, Glendale police said.
Police identified the motorcyclist killed in the Thursday night crash as 20-year-old Dustin Scherr and the dead pedestrian as 52-year-old Philip Wilson.
Sgt. Scott Waite, a spokesperson for the Glendale Police Department, said the accident occurred at 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Glendale.
According to police, speed is believed to be a contributing factor in causing the crash and that possible impairment is being investigated.
A similar accident involving a pedestrian on a bicycle occurred earlier Thursday afternoon near 59th Avenue and Union Hills Drive in Glendale.
The pedestrian was initially taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but is now expected to survive. The intersection remained closed at the time of publication.
