Oh, Canada? Arizonans increasingly seek Canada move following Trump election

PHOENIX — It’s been an eventful 26 days since President Donald Trump has taken office and many people have taken to Google just to figure out what has been going on.
Whether it’s in regard to Russia, or Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, or the U.S.-Mexico border wall, people have asked a lot of important and pressing questions since the election.
So to figure out what people have been curious about since Trump’s election, a real estate company called Estately used data-tracking technology to find out which questions each state has Googled at a higher rate compared to other states.
And as it turns out, more Arizonans are looking to get out of the state since Jan. 20 — to Canada, specifically. “How to emigrate to Canada” has been searched more frequently in Arizona compared to any other state, according to the site.

Arizona and Canada have always had a special relationship. Many Canadians have bought homes in the Valley to escape the cold and Arizonans even celebrate Canada Week in February.
But that’s not all: Arizonans have also Googled the Starbucks boycott, Masha Gessen’s “Autocracy: Rules for Survival” and the question “What is the A.C.A?” — also known as Obamacare — more than any other state.
Our neighbors to the west were a bit more dramatic in their Google searches. Californians searched “Will the world end in 2017?,” Is Donald Trump a sociopath?” and “What did Trump do now?” more than any other state.
Wisconsin asked who Press Secretary Sean Spicer is, Virginia wanted a Mike Pence gay dance party and Colorado got alcohol delivered.
Other states, like Iowa, wondered where Yemen is, while Massachusetts just wanted to see House Speaker Paul Ryan dab.
So if you’re looking to move to Canada, or just want to know what is going on in the news today, we can always be grateful for Google, the all-knowing search engine.
