PHOENIX — A teenager on his way to school jumped off a bus Friday morning to race back home to save his dog from a burning house in Phoenix.
A fire department official said the 14-year-old was riding on a school bus, making a second swing down his street, when he saw smoke coming from his home near 15th Avenue and Loop 101.
He got off the bus, rushed to the house and let Zach the dog out the back door before fire crews arrived.

The fire was toward the back of the house.
The boy and his pet were unharmed but the home was damaged enough that a GoFund Me page has been established to help the family replace their ruined belongings.
