PHOENIX — Attendees at Hillary Clinton’s Phoenix-area rally said they enjoyed the nominee’s messages of hope and were pleased to see she put aside Donald Trump-bashing, for the most part.

“Hillary is a winner in my book. She talks about equal rights for everybody – men, women, children, immigrants – that’s what I believe. That’s the kind of word I want to live in,” Gail from Florence, Arizona said.

Clinton addressed a crowd of thousands at Arizona State University in Tempe on Wednesday. Despite waiting through a delay that stretched longer than 90 minutes, her supporters were still excited to see her.

“I would probably say just her optimism for the future,” Maggie from Gilbert, Arizona said of her favorite part of the speech.

Supporters also said they were glad to hear Clinton discuss immigration, especially with it being such a hot-button issue.

“We have so many Hispanics, so many Latinos in the community that it’s important to make them feel included, make them feel welcome and not make people feel like, after the election, they’re going to be under attack because that’s not who we should be as Americans,” Carynne from Mesa, Arizona said.

Clinton did use some of her time to lash out at both Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Trump. Several supporters weren’t a fan of that direction.

“Everything she said that had nothing to do with Donald Trump,” Katheen from Florence said of her favorite parts.

However, other attendees saw a reason to bash the Republican nominee.

“I thought it was a great speech. My favorite part was comparing the visions for the future of America, one of pessimism and hatred on the other side and one of optimism on Hillary’s side,” David from Phoenix said.
