Poll: Donald Trump takes late lead over Hillary Clinton in Arizona

PHOENIX — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has taken a late lead over Democrat Hillary Clinton in Arizona, a poll released Wednesday said.
With less than a week until the general election, the poll from CNN/ORC said Trump holds a 5 percentage point lead over Clinton among likely voters; the Republican nominee has 49-44 edge. That number drops slightly to 4 percentage points among registered voters, reducing Trump’s advantage to 47-43.
Both leads are outside of the poll’s margin of error, which is 3.5 percent.
The poll showed Trump’s lead in Arizona was about the same in August.
Libertarian Gary Johnson polled at 5 percent of the support among both likely and registered voters — marking a large drop from his 12 percent support in August. Green Party nominee Jill Stein polled between 1 and 2 percent.
The poll could be an encouraging sign for Trump, who has campaigned heavily in Arizona. Eighty-six percent of respondents said they are certain who they are voting for, while 14 percent said they could still change their mind.
The poll was conducted between Oct. 27 and Nov. 1. CNN/ORC contacted 1,005 people — 505 by landline and 500 by cellphone — and, of those, determined 769 were likely voters based on their response to several voting questions.
Among those people, 27 percent described themselves as Democrats, 33 percent as Republicans and 40 percent as independent.
When it came to registered voters, 30 percent said they were Democrats, 36 percent said they were Republicans, 33 percent said they were registered with no party and 1 percent said they were registered with another party.
