PHOENIX — Some young cancer patients’ Halloween is a little brighter thanks to one Arizona official.

Gov. Doug Ducey stopped by Phoenix Children’s Hospital to do a reverse trick-or-treat. He visited with kids getting infusions, and read to them, too. He even did the sound effects of a pirate while reading the story.

“It’s just so amazing that he’s taking time out of his day to come visit kids,” said Lauren Urquides. Her son, Callan, is a 2-year-old Phoenix Children’s patient. “It makes a big difference for them.”

Ducey said as a dad to three kids, he knows Halloween is special. He wanted the little cancer patients to have a good time, too.

“Bring the treats in here, have some fun, a little party,” Ducey said.

The governor also donated some children’s books to the hospital.

Callan Urquides visited with the governor during his infusion treatment. He had one thing to say:

“Thank you, Governor Ducey.”

We want to hear from you.
