The Bashas’ grocery chain has no plans to replace its store on Seventh Avenue and Osborn Road after it closes, according to the Phoenix Bussiness Journal.
The journal reported that the store, which has been serving residents in the area since the 1950s, will close if plans for new apartments from Trammell Crow Co. are approved by the city of Phoenix.
Ashley Shick, communications director for Bashas’ said employees at the Seventh Avenue location will have the opportunity to transfer to an existing store. She added that there are no immediate plans for a midtown or downtown store to replace the existing store.
“There is nothing in the midtown Phoenix area at this time proposed for Bashas’ store, although we do operate our Food City location just down the road on 19th Avenue and Indian School,” she said.
In addition to the Bashas’ store, the area is also served by two Safeway stores at Osborn and Seventh Avenue and McDowell at Seventh Street.
