PHOENIX — One person was seriously injured early Thursday morning when a car ran a red light in Phoenix and collided with a semitrailer.
Police said the 21-year-old driver of a sedan ran a red light near Central and Glendale avenues and smashed into the semi’s trailer around 1 a.m. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Emergency crews needed extrication equipment to free the young man.
The intersection was shut down for the investigation.
Police said neither vehicle had been speeding.
The names of the drivers have not been released.
