Arizona Senator John McCain became the latest Republican denouncing Donald Trump’s comments about women, and has thus pulled his support for the businessman.
Cindy and I will not vote for Donald Trump. I have never voted for a Democratic presidential candidate and will not vote for Hillary Clinton. We will write in the name of some good conservative Republican who is qualified to be President.
McCain further explained in his statement that Trump was never his choice, but thought it was important that the senator respected the choice made by the delegates. However, McCain expressed that Trump’s latest behavior this week has made it “impossible to continue to offer even conditional support for his candidacy”.
In a statement released Friday, McCain also stated: “There are no excuses for Donald Trump’s offensive and demeaning comments. No woman should ever be victimized by this kind of inappropriate behavior. He alone bears the burden of his conduct and alone should suffer the consequences.”
McCain, who is currently in a re-election battle with congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick, had publicly supported Trump for president, although the two have been at odds with each other in the past.
Trump’s remarks about women came from a 2005 tape which surfaced on Friday.
