CBS Films releases first ‘Patriots Day’ movie trailer

The first official trailer for Patriots Day, Mark Wahlberg’s new film chronicling the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, has been released by CBS Films.

Wahlberg plays Sgt. Tommy Saunders, a fictional character based on several different real life Boston police officers on hand during the bombing.

The two-minute trailer features shots from throughout Boston, including Fenway Park and actual footage from the 2016 Boston Marathon finish line.

Patriots Day also stars Michelle Monaghan, J.K. Simmons, Kevin Bacon, John Goodman and Alex Wolff. The film was directed by Peter Berg, who also served as director for the television series Friday Night Lights.

The full version of Patriots Day hits theaters in Boston on Dec 21, and will open up nationally Jan. 13, 2017.
