PHOENIX — A California firefighter was reportedly arrested Tuesday while responding to a rollover crash.
According to CBS8.com, the arrest took place after 38-year-old firefighter Jacob Gregoire and a California Highway Patrol officer got in an argument about where he should park his fire truck.
According to officials, the officer told the firefighter to move his truck from the center divide, but the firefighter refused that request and continued giving aid to the crash victims.
Gregoire was handcuffed and placed in a squad car for about 30 minutes. He was later released.
“To detain one of our firefighters in the middle of an incident is ridiculous, and it doesn’t provide the good customer service, the good public service that both our agencies are there to do,” Chula Vista Fire Department Chief Dave Hanneman said.
The agencies are planning to meet over the incident to figure out exactly what happened.
The driver in the crash was injured and hospitalized. Their condition is unknown.
