‘Let’s Get Into It’ is the Rio Olympics jam you didn’t know you needed

Aug 15, 2016, 3:36 PM

The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro have given us a lot to talk about over the past days.

From Michael Phelps winning his 1,482,132th 23rd Olympic gold medal and the stunning performances of Simone Biles to the dominance of Jamaica’s Usain Bolt on the track, there’s been a lot of amazing moments.

But there’s also been a lot of moments to jeer at. The prevalence of social media has proliferated these moments at an incredible rate and Monday was no different.

This time around, the internet was laughing at “Let’s Get Into It,” a bilingual cover of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” that basically encourages fans to be nice people while they’re at an event.

But Monday’s chuckles were not at the intention of the song — pretty much everyone seemed to be on board with the idea of “Have fun, cheer and don’t be a bad person” — but the song’s lyrics.

Of course, a song written in two very different languages is going to have its clunky spots. “Let’s Get Into It” certainly is no different.

The combination of forced lines and reminders not to smoke are worth a chuckle, but, hey, if this song keeps an event as huge as the Rio Olympics running smoothly, we can see ourselves getting into it.
