A new class from the City of Phoenix teaches kids self-defense without weapons.
Instructor Jui Chui is a former police officer and CPS investigator. He currently works for the city in the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. He says all kids need to know how to protect themselves from danger.
“Our children (are) the most vulnerable population,” he said. “What I instill in them is a sense of confidence and awareness.”
The class focuses on bringing down attackers with something as simple as a finger jabbing into a wristbone. Or, if parents want to buy it for their children, a Kubotan can do the same thing. This is a specialized tool that can be attached to a keychain and used to jab wrists or pressure points.
All classes are free, and adults and children over eight years old are welcome to attend. The class is offered at three locations
