NEW YORK (AP) – The mother of a 19-year-old New York University student who was trapped between two buildings for 36 hours says he called for help as he went in and out of consciousness.
Habiba Vongtau tells the Daily News (

But she says Asher told himself not to give up.
He tumbled down the 2-foot shaft Saturday morning.
He was rescued after a police officer heard his moans. Firefighters broke through two cinderblock walls to reach him.
His mother says Asher wants to meet his rescuers. She says he likened them to Navy SEALs.
She says he suffered a cracked pelvis, a minor skull fracture and perforated lung.
