There will be some enhancements and new trails coming to Arizona thanks to $3 million in recently approved grants from the Arizona State Parks.
The Phoenix Business Journal reported that 29 grants will be awarded to improve existing trails and facilities as well as develop new trail systems.
Some of those expected to benefit include the non-motorized Maricopa Trail and the developing 75-plus miles of new off-highway vehicle trails in Apachie County.
According to the business journal, there are 10 motorized projects totaling $1.9 million and 10 non-motorized projects totaling $1.1 million.
“As leaders of trails across the state, we are proud to be in the position of seeing these projects hit the ground,” said Executive Director Sue Black in a statement.
A majority of the projects will be located in Maricopa, Coconino, Apache, Gila, La Paz, Pima, Pinal, Yavapai, Cochise, Navajo and Mohave counties.
