Phoenix-area fire crew rescues 10-foot snake during monsoon storm

PHOENIX — A Phoenix-area fire crew came — or rather slithered — across a serpentine rescue during a monsoon storm last week.
In a tweet, the Scottsdale Fire Department said it rescued a 10-foot python during a big storm on Friday.

The monsoon season delivered a storm in a big way on Friday. What started out as a day with temperatures hitting in the 110-degree range ended with heavy rain, thunderstorms and power outages across the Valley.
Early in the night, the storm approached from all parts of eastern Arizona, north and south, eventually hitting the cities.
SRP’s outage map at one point showed over 17,000 outages south and east of Phoenix, including parts of Scottsdale, Mesa and Chandler.
Temperatures in Phoenix were nearly 30 degrees cooler on Friday night than Thursday night.
