LISTEN: Former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer - Mac and Gaydos Election Insider

Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer believes Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton spins opponent Donald Trump’s words into headline-makers.

That said, Brewer does wish Trump would be more careful with his words.

“I know Donald says things that make some people very uncomfortable, and I wish he would tone it down a little bit,” Brewer told KTAR 92.3 FM’s Mac and Gaydos on Tuesday. “I do believe the media is over-dramatizing it and they play it over and over and over.

“I can’t understand why our national TV and our papers, and radio stations, that we don’t talk about some of the issues that we know are factual.”

Brewer, who has been one of Trump’s biggest supporters in the state of Arizona, said Clinton’s campaign has often harped on Trump’s speeches rather than focus on the issues.

“She is smart. She is a polished, well-organized, self-serving politician,” Brewer said of Clinton. “She’s not gonna be baited. Donald Trump is new to politics, is successful in his own right, and so he gets baited. There’s a time to speak up and there’s a time not to. We have to take that along with the other things he wants to do.”
