If you are looking for information on Zika, West Nile Virus and other diseases before you travel, there’s an app for that.

The Arizona Department of Health Services just launched its Arizona Infectious Disease Resource mobile app. It provides an A-to-Z guide on everything from Lyme Disease to Rabies to Shingles. The app includes information on symptoms, prevention and where certain diseases originated.

“One of the things you’ll see when you go into each of the diseases is some information or a quick icon that shows you whether the disease is commonly found in Arizona or whether it’s associated with another region of the country,” said Jessica Rigler, branch chief for public health preparedness at the Arizona Department of Health Services.

The app, which is geared towards healthcare providers, can also be downloaded for free by anyone. It also provides health alerts, resources and contact information for each Arizona county health department.

“You can also favorite pages within the app,” Rigler said. “If you feel like you always need to look up something about the flu, you can favorite that page.”

The mobile app is available on both the iTunes and Google Play markets.

We want to hear from you.
