A Mesa woman has taken spirituality and real life advice and turned it into a magazine for women going through the struggles of poverty or the criminal justice system.
Crystal Wacker Knapp, the creator of Reach UP, says on the publication’s website that she lived in government housing while working at an inner city ministry in New York City.
She describes heating her home with her oven, hearing gunshots day and night and having holes in her floor so large she could see the basement.
She and her team put together the quarterly magazine understanding the circumstances that the women in their audience are going through.
The subject material ranges from simple cleaning or fashion tips to deeper pieces about God and faith.
The magazine is free to read online or on Facebook but to have it sent to you quarterly, an annual $25 donation is asked.
Organizations that would like the magazine in bulk can print off their own copies from PDFs online or email the magazine about pricing.
