Main Street Minute: French toast giveaway in Phoenix, grocer hosts back-to-school fair

KTAR’s Main Street Minute focuses on local businesses that are hiring, opening and hosting events across the community. These stories air each weekday at 7:23 a.m.

• A new cancer treatment and research center in Tempe broke ground on Friday morning. Arizona Oncology will be located at Arizona State University’s Research Park at Price and Warner roads. It will be the only facility in the East Valley to offer medical, radiation, gynecologic oncology and hematology services in one center.

• Kneaders Bakery and Cafe’s new location at 44th Street and Indian School Road in Phoenix is celebrating a grand opening this weekend. The first 100 customers to show up on Friday and Saturday will receive free french toast. The store opens at 7 a.m.

• Food City will hold its annual back-to-school fair Saturday in Phoenix. The grocer is partnering with the Phoenix Fire Department to offer free immunizations to kids 12 and under, as well as backpack and school supply giveaways. The event will take place at Paideia Academies near 16th Street and Baseline Road.
