Main Street Minute: Fondue chain offering half-off meals to Valley civil servants

• State Farm is hiring Tuesday in the East Valley. The job fair runs from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Sheraton Mesa Hotel at Wrigleyville West. State Farm has full and part-time openings in its call center, customer service, claims, information technology, sales and underwriting departments.

The Melting Pot is offering all civil service workers 50 percent off their meals through Saturday. The fondue restaurant is also donating a dollar to the local police department for every civil service worker who comes in this week. There are three Melting Pot locations in the Valley.

• The University of Arizona’s health and sciences program just received an $11.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. The money will be paid out over the next five years for researching devastating lung disorders in the critically ill.
