CLEVELAND — The Republican National Convention was supposed to begin Monday, but that didn’t stop a rogue celebrity from making an unscheduled speech to kick it off a day early.
On Sunday, “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert crashed the convention stage to unofficially open proceedings. But he added a “Hunger Games” flare.
Colbert did not pull any punches — at least in his costume — donning a blue wig and eyebrows along with a loud jacket in his best Caeser Flickerman impression.

But the outfit was just the beginning. Colbert sneaked onto the stage to officially open what he has termed the “2016 Republican National Hungry for Power Games,” a phrase he coined on his popular late-night show.
The video of the event opens with Colbert announcing that Donald Trump has formed an alliance with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence before he pretends to pass out momentarily.
As soon as he regains consciousness, he resumes his opening speech. But as soon as he raises the gavel, a security guard grabs Colbert’s arm and forces him off the stage.
While he is being escorted away, Colbert can be heard saying “I know I’m not supposed to be up here, but let’s be honest, neither is Donald Trump.”
Colbert also made a passing comment to a fan on the delegate floor, in what could be terms of war.
Insulting North Carolina barbecue? Oh this could be bad.
