PHOENIX — Some roads remain closed near the Grand Canyon’s North Rim, two weeks after a forest fire started.

Park officials said the Point Imperial, Cape Royal, Fuller Canyon, Forest Service 610 and 611 roads were closed while crews battled the Fuller Fire in the Kaibab National Forest.

Throughout the weekend, the fire has been pushed by strong winds to the northeast. It was caused by lightning.

As of Sunday, the fire is zero percent contained and is now 11,382 acres. There is a total of 511 personnel working the fire.

Some trails also were closed: Ken Patrick, Point Imperial, Nankoweap, Saddle Mountain, South Canyon and part of Arizona Trail.

State Route 67 has remained open.

About 500 personnel were fighting the fire, which has burned about 3,050 acres of aspen and ponderosa pine. Fire managers said no structures were in the way.

The blaze started June 29 after a lightning strike.
