Weather Channel vehicle flipped by tornado

A Weather Channel vehicle was flipped Friday as a crew was covering a tornado bearing down on Oklahoma City.

The car was tossed about 200 yards.

Storm chaser Sean Schofer pulled Weather Channel reporter Mike Bettes out of the wreckage.

Bettes immediately began reporting again on the storm.

“It was my worst nightmare,” Bettes said on-air after being pulled out. “We got hit by the tornado. My life flashed before my eyes.”

The Weather Channel crew was safe, despite air bags deploying in the vehicle.

After helping Bettes and the Weather Channel crew, Schofer and his team continued to chase the storm despite their vehicle taking damage.
