BYRAM, Miss. (AP) – A sport utility truck has plowed into the children’s play area of a McDonald’s restaurant outside of Jackson, Miss., injuring five people.
WAPT-TV reports that the crash occurred Thursday evening when the driver of a Chevy Avalanche suffered a seizure, lost control and his vehicle struck a McDonald’s in Byram, about 10 miles southwest of Jackson.
Police told the news station that five people were injured and being taken to the hospital. Two adults and three children suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
Byram police Cmdr. David Errington told the Clarion-Ledger newspaper that the injured included the Avalanche driver, an adult and two children in a second vehicle struck by the Avalanche, and a child inside the restaurant. That child was taken by a personal vehicle to a local hospital.
