LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles police are searching for a driver who caused a deadly eight-vehicle pileup while apparently fleeing after a drive-by shooting.
Officer Lyle Knight says someone opened fire at a carwash fundraiser in South Los Angeles shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Nobody was hit and the silver Pontiac took off. Witnesses or victims began chasing it in a Dodge Charger.
Minutes later, both cars ran a red light and slammed into cross-traffic. The Pontiac hit a Saturn, killing 39-year-old Jose Cuevas, of Downey.
The Charger hit a pickup truck, which struck parked cars and a bicyclist. The Los Angeles Times (

Police say five other people received minor injuries.
The Pontiac’s driver is being sought.
