MOBILE, Ala. (AP) – The body of a missing Mobile, Ala., shipyard worker has been pulled from the Mobile Bay.
Authorities say the body of 64-year-old John R. Johnson was recovered Friday morning near the area where he was last seen. U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Michael Clausen says authorities found Johnson’s body near a dry dock.
Johnson and a co-worker fell into the bay April 3 during a windstorm that also dislodged the disabled Carnival Triumph cruise ship from its mooring. Johnson’s co-worker was pulled from the bay during the storm and was treated for hypothermia.
After 15 hours, the U.S. Coast Guard suspended the search for Johnson’s body.
