Former high school football star Brian Banks is finally getting his shot with the NFL. The Atlanta Falcons have signed Banks, who was wrongfully accused of rape and spent five years in prison.
The 27-year-old was headed to the University of Southern California on a football scholarship when he was arrested on rape charges. Banks was exonerated last May of all charges after the woman involved in the case recanted her claim.
The California native received several tryouts last season but wasn’t signed. Banks spent the last season playing in the United Football League.
There is much to be done before Banks steps foot on the field as a starter, but as of Wednesday, he gets his dream job.
Banks tweeted simply “I feel good this morning. :)”
