WASHINGTON (AP) – D.C. police say 11 people have been wounded in a drive-by shooting outside an apartment complex in northwest Washington.
Police say 11 people reported injuries and were taken to the hospital after the shooting early Monday on North Capitol Street.
One man was shot in the back and seriously wounded, but no one suffered life-threatening injuries. All victims were reported to be conscious, breathing and stable.
The shooting happened around 2:10 a.m. in the area of North Capitol Street and New York Avenue. Surveillance video shows shots being fired from two speeding cars in rapid succession.
Assistant Police Chief Peter Newsham says a motive hasn’t been determined yet. He says police still need to interview many witnesses. Detectives were at the scene Monday gathering evidence.
