Arizona readers to receive millions in Apple e-book payout

PHOENIX — Consumers in Arizona will be receiving millions in reimbursements this week after a price-fixing settlement was reached by Apple.
Arizona, along with 32 other states and territories, accused the tech company of conspiring with five of the nation’s largest publishers to artificially raise the price of e-books between 2010 and 2012.
In March, the U.S. Supreme Court held Apple liable for all damages.
Approximately $8.6 million of the $400 million payout will be distributed to Arizona consumers.
Payouts will begin on June 21 and are expected to be completed June 24.
Consumers will receive $6.93 for each New York Times best-selling e-book and $1.57 for all other e-books purchased.
Those who purchased e-books through Sony or Google will receive checks in the mail, while Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble and Kobo customers will automatically receive credits in their accounts.
