DEARBORN, Mo. (AP) – The Missouri Lottery is seeking to validate a possible Powerball winner.
Missouri Lottery chief operations officer Gary Gonder said late Thursday afternoon that a ticket had been submitted several hours earlier. Officials are in the process of confirming it’s a winner.
Tickets matching all six numbers were sold at a gas station in the small northwestern Missouri town of Dearborn and at a convenience store in suburban Phoenix. The winners will split a record $588 million Powerball jackpot.
Gonder says the lottery will do “various checks” to verify the ticket.
If the winner is confirmed, there will be an announcement Friday near where the ticket was bought.
Gonder couldn’t provide any details, including whether the ticket was bought by someone from Missouri.
