PHOENIX — Phoenix-area voters heading to the polls for Arizona’s special election on Tuesday won’t have to worry about rain and thunderstorms that are in the forecast.
Jessica Nolte with the National Weather Service said she doesn’t expect any rainfall to begin until the late hours of the evening, nor does she expect heavy showers. In fact, most Valley residents likely will only get a sprinkle.
“We have a 15 to 20 percent chance depending on where you’re at in the Valley,” she said. “The storms won’t be that organized or impressive, but there’s a chance we will hear some rumbles.”
Polls in the election are slate to close at 7 p.m., while any rain is not expected for a few hours later.
Nolte said the storm will be in keeping with other May showers, in that it won’t have much pop. The month is typically one of the driest in the Phoenix area.
Unlike other recent storms, Nolte said Tuesday’s will bring some breezy weather but will not pack strong wind gusts.
