(AP) – A transcript of a hoax emergency call received Monday afternoon by the Coast Guard from a boat identifying itself as the Blind Date. Coast Guard crews and New York City police helicopters searched for several hours about 20 miles off Sandy Hook, N.J., but found no sign of any people or distress in the water.

CALLER: U.S. Coast Guard, motor yacht, Blind Date _ how do you copy?

(brief garble)

CALLER: We have three deceased, nine injured. We have had an explosion on board, that’s why we’re taking on water. I’m in about 3 1/2 feet of water on the bridge right now, I’m going to stay by as long as I can before I have to bail.

CALLER: We have 21 souls on board, 20 in the water right now. I have 3 deceased on board, nine injured because of the explosion we’ve had. I’m in 3 feet of water on the bridge, I’m going to stay by the radio as long as I can before I have to go overboard.

(garbled transmission)

CALLER: Electronic array is down, I’m on a solar-powered radio right now. Our last known position was 17.5 miles due east of Gateway National Recreation Area Sandy Hook Point, I believe it was.

CALLER: Yes, all souls do have life jackets. We have beacons on board, the rafts (garbled transmission).

CALLER: Roger, Coast Guard. Give me, give me about five minutes. I’ve got a holler out to them. I’m dealing with second- and third-degree … (end of audio).
