FBI asking public to find ‘Acid Bandit’ suspect in Phoenix-area attempted robbery

PHOENIX — The FBI is asking the public to be on the lookout for a man suspected of an attempted robbery in the Phoenix-area.
The man is suspected of attempting to rob a Wells Fargo Bank in the area of University Drive and Gilbert Road in Mesa on the afternoon of Jan. 27.
According to the FBI, the man handed a note to the bank teller that demanded an unspecified amount of money and threatened to spray them with sulfuric acid if they did not comply.
The teller then ducked behind the counter while the man walked out of the bank and took off from the scene in a silver or gold 4-door Toyota Camry with a temporary paper license plate.
The man is described between 5’7″ and 5’9″ in height with gray hair and a large build. He is suspected to be anywhere between 55- to 60-years-old and has acne or acne scars on his face.
At the time of the attempted robbery, the man was wearing a baseball hat with a design on the front, a fake mustache or beard, a blue long-sleeved shirt and black pants.
