PHOENIX — A Silver Alert for a missing Phoenix-area man has been cancelled on Thursday after officers located the man in an East Mesa desert, police said.
Gary Stuesse, 72, was found Thursday in the desert in far East Mesa. Police said he claimed he had been sleeping in the desert.
Stuesse was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but police said he appeared to be in good condition.
He was last seen Tuesday near Baseline and Signal Butte roads in Mesa. He was riding a yellow and red mountain bike equipped with two baskets.
Stuesse has a heart condition and has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. He takes medication for both, but has his pills with him.
He has disappeared from home for several days before, but has not been heard from this time around.
Stuesse is a white male who stands 5-foot-8 and weighs 155 pounds. He has grey hair and brown eyes.
