PHOENIX — Not that it’s blowing its own horn, but a live music venue in downtown Phoenix has been named one of the 100 best concert sites in the country.

The Crescent Ballroom came in at No. 58 on music website Consequence of Sound’s 100 greatest American music venues. The Rialto in Tucson was No. 84.

The three-in-one downtown venue opened in 2011 but the site itself has been around since 1910, when it was an auto business.

The buzzy, respected website described the Crescent as “Phoenix’s premiere music venue for midsize acts” and was impressed with the restaurant — Cocina 10 — and the drinking area, Lounge, which also part of the package. Those places keep late hours.

Tucson’s Rialto Theatre was the only other Arizona place to make the list. The former movie theater got some love for the bands it has been able to book (White Stripes, Black Crowes) and hanging onto the marquee.

The legendary Fillmore in San Francisco earned the No. 1 spot, followed by the Bowery Ballroom in New York; Metro Chicago in Chicago; the Hollywood Bowl in LA; the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., at No. 5; Stubb’s in Austin, Texas; Red Rocks Amphitheater in Red Rocks, Colorado; Great Scott in Boston; The Gorge in George, Washington; and Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

We want to hear from you.
