PHOENIX — A portion of the Interstate 10 near Casa Grande will be closed on Sunday to accommodate an Arizona Department of Public Safety investigation into a crash that happened this past week.
According to a recent press release, the roadway will be closed between State Route 387 and McCartney Road between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. on May 1.
Both directions of the roadway will close at 5 a.m., but Department of Public Safety officials said the length of the road closure will depend on the time it will take for state troopers to collect measurements at the scene.
Once the measurements have been completed, one lane in each direction on the I-10 will be reopened until the Department of Public Safety investigation is complete.
Officials did not give an exact time that the roadway will be back open in full swing. Until then, drivers can use SR 387 south to McCartney Road if they’re heading eastbound or SR 287 to McCartney Road for westbound traffic.
Portions of the I-10 have been making headlines recently, most notably after blowing dust and inclement weather caused limited visibility and led to a 12-car pileup on Thursday.
