PHOENIX — A Phoenix-area city is taking part in a week-long celebration to recognize the travel and tourism industry.

Starting May 1, Gilbert will take part in the 33rd Annual National Travel and Tourism Week in order to celebrate the impact that the travel and tourism industry had on the city.

According to a press release, travel and tourism brought in $215 million in visitor spending to Gilbert and $20.9 billion statewide. It also brought approximately 1,600 jobs to the city.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Office of Tourism will share “Random Acts of Sunshine,” including gift card giveaways at TopGolf in Gilbert.

As part of the week-long event, visitors can pick up a “Discover Gilbert” passport to learn more about local hotels and enjoy free drinks.

For guests who turn in their “passports” to the Gilbert booth at the Farmer’s Market on May 7, they could win a TopGolf package or an overnight stay at a hotel stay or spa package in the Gilbert area.

We want to hear from you.
