Texas school district turns to internet to rename Robert E. Lee Elementary School

For most of us who have ever frequented the internet, especially comment sections on various types of content (this article is undoubtedly no exception), you know it can be a mean, brutally honest and all-around cruel place.
And after the whole Boaty McBoatface incident, you’d think public officials would be more wary of allowing the internet to rename important artifacts, or in an Texas’ school district’s case, an elementary school.
Yes, you read that correctly.
The Austin School District turned to the most reliable and responsible of sources — the internet — to rename the Robert E. Lee Elementary School, according to Screengrabber.
The school district board voted to rename the school on March 28 after hearing community feedback and asked the internet for recommendations.
Regardless of the number of nominations each name gets, the board will have the final say.
So kick back, relax and read some of the “potential” elementary school names below — and be grateful you will never have to say you attended Boaty McBoatface Elementary School (which is a real suggestion, by the way).
