WASHINGTON (AP) – Washington chef Jose Andres is joining the city’s food truck craze by rolling out Spanish dishes from a new mobile eatery called Pepe.
Pepe, a nickname for Jose, is a silver food truck that will serve Washington and also host private events with Andres’ company ThinkFoodGroup. It began serving food this week.
Pepe will offer a rotation of Spanish sandwiches called flautas that are rolled with layers of ingredients. They will include a pork burger, fried chicken, veggie options and a Spanish grilled cheese, as well as soups and dessert.
The food truck will also offer patatas bravas, fried potato chips that are popular in Spain, and non-alcoholic cocktails.
