Appeals court tosses ex-Glock exec’s convictions

ATLANTA (AP) – A Georgia appeals court has overturned the conviction of a former executive for Glock Inc. who was sentenced to seven years in prison for stealing a pistol and conspiring to steal millions from the gun manufacturer.
The Georgia Court of Appeals on Tuesday released an opinion reversing Paul Jannuzzo’s convictions, saying the state failed to indict him within the statute of limitations. Jannuzzo was convicted in March 2012 on theft and racketeering charges.
Prosecutors had said Jannuzzo, who was once Glock’s general counsel, worked with former company vice president Peter Manown to steal money through cloned bank accounts and forged documents.
Glock is based in Austria and has its U.S. headquarters in Smyrna, Ga.
The Cobb County district attorney’s office, which prosecuted the case, didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
