Faith in Humanity: Group supports at-risk teens in the Phoenix area

The teenage years are rough for anyone, let alone those who are more prone to drug use, homelessness or other blockades to a successful life.

That’s where Sunshine Angels steps in. The group helps at-risk teens in Phoenix by providing practical and emotional support to get them through tough times.

Sunshine Angels estimates there are 19,000 at-risk children in Arizona’s foster care system, a majority of which live in the Phoenix area. The group focuses mainly on those leaving the foster care system.

While Sunshine Angels’ goals are altruistic, the group said preventing the resultant crime and poverty that at-risk kids could get into has a practical effect for taxpayers, who could end up footing the bill.

The group has worked with thousands of children.
