McCain to oppose Sotomayor

WASHINGTON - Republican Sen. John McCain says he'll oppose Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor when the Senate votes on her confirmation this week.

The Arizona senator calls Sotomayor a judicial activist who tried to walk back from that record during her confirmation hearings. He says President Barack Obama's nominee has used her position as a judge to try to change the law.

McCain is one of several Republicans from states with heavily Hispanic populations to come out against Sotomayor, the daughter of Puerto Rican parents raised in a New York City housing project and educated in the Ivy League.

McCain says Sotomayor's life story is inspiring and compelling, but he says that's not enough to qualify her for a position on the high court.

I could care less what her skin color is. I just want her to have more of a Thomas Jefferson/James Madison slant, and less of a Karl Marx slant. I understand that's simply not possible though.

Give us the people five to voice in on. Even let's change things and let us the people vote them in??? Have them run for election when a slot opens. I think this person right now is a bad person. Law sees no color. Remember meet us at DC this OCT 9-11 for our 3 day 911 about how our illegal racist president is doing things all wrong. I had hoped for this charmer to do things right, but wow bothsides lets be real here- he stinks.

Kyle and McCain appeasing the racist/extremist crowd in Arizona. What a shame. We will make them pay in the upcoming Senate race (for McCain). Remember that 35% of the voters in Arizona are Hispanic
