PHOENIX - A pretrial hearing for an Arizona legislator charged in an alleged domestic violence incident has been rescheduled.

A Phoenix Municipal Court spokesman says a lawyer for Republican Sen. Scott Bundgaard of Peoria requested a postponement, resulting in it being rescheduled for Aug. 15.

The hearing had been scheduled for Monday.

A not-guilty plea has already been entered for Bundgaard to answer misdemeanor assault and endangerment charges in the February incident on a Phoenix freeway.

The 43-year-old lawmaker and then-girlfriend Aubry Ballard reportedly argued while returning home from a charity dance fundraiser. Each had bruises and cuts.

Bundgaard lost his post as majority leader after the incident. Bundgaard's lawyer has said his client has maintained his innocence and will be exonerated.
