Woman shot during standoff with Phoenix police

PHOENIX -- A woman was shot and wounded during a standoff with police at a south Phoenix home Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Trent Crump said the shooting happened near 12th Street and Broadway after police received a call that a woman had skipped bond.

When police tried to confront the suspect, she pulled a gun and holed up in the home.

"About four hours into the standoff, a curtain was drawn open, we believe on purpose," Crump said. "A couple of our officers saw a female in what they described as threatening position over another female. At which point, one shot was fired from one of our snipers."

Crump said the woman at the window was shot in the face and taken to a hospital in serious condition.

The woman who alleged had skipped bond came out of the house and surrendered.

Crump said investigators were trying to sort out the relationship between the women and what happened.

No officers were injured.

If the woman who pulled a gun on police after jumping bail walked out under her own power, how did police determine that the woman they shot wasnt defending herself in her own home after being invaded by an armed suspect? Did they shoot the woman in the face protecting the suspect? Something is very wrong with this picture.
