Cardinals make roster move, release Byrd

by Sports 620 KTAR (November 24th, 2009 @ 1:12pm)

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona Cardinals have re-signed linebacker Monty Beisel to a one-year contract and released tight end Dominique Byrd.

Beisel rejoins the Cardinals after playing the previous three seasons in Arizona. He left this offseason and signed as a free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs where he appeared in three games and collected two tackles before being released on September 29.

The veteran originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick (107th overall) of the Chiefs in 2001 and played his first four seasons in Kansas City before playing with New England in 2005. He then signed as a free agent with the Cardinals in 2006 and appeared in 40 games (four starts) over the next three seasons collecting 56 tackles (37 solos), one interception and 48 special teams tackles. Beisel also appeared in all four postseason games for Arizona last season.

For his career, Beisel has played in 113 games (19 starts) and has collected 201 tackles (133 solos), 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, and 112 special teams tackles.

The Cardinals have also re-signed defensive end Jason Banks and linebacker Pago Togafau to the team's practice squad. They take the place of fullback Jed Collins and defensive tackle Antoine Holmes who were both released.

Banks was in training camp with the Cardinals before being placed on injured reserve (knee) on August 6. He was later released from injured reserve following an injury settlement.

Togafau rejoins the Cardinals after reaching an injury settlement following being placed on injured reserve (foot) on August 31. Togafau re-signed with the Cardinals last year and appeared in six regular season games collecting five tackles and 11 special teams tackles while also playing in all four postseason contests.

No big deal; but expect a loss with the Titans---they are on a roll & expect it to continue; probably important to get everyone back down off " Cloud 9 " Just no one get hurt; next week, we will be back

Its going to be a tough game. Its going to be a statement game for Arizona who as a team are curbing around that losing culture against a team the Tennessee Titans who are out to set an example and have something to prove to the world.

Where is Arizona? How far have they come together? They've all been together for 3 yrs. Arizona and Tennesse should be dynasty teams like the Bill Bellichick Patriots, the Chuck Knoll Steelers, the Tom Landry Cowboys, the Don Schula Dolphins etc (you get my point). Its disappointing to see that they arent with as much talent these two teams have and the youth they have in depth to favor and establish my point...

They have to play very physical because like you said that O line is third best in the leauge. If they cant contain young, he's going to open up the play-actions, boot legs, and runs for CJ. They have to shut down Young early and make them play from behind. Its going to be a challenge for Arizona. To be honest, I wouldnt mind them getting thier arses kicked! I dont see this as a win/loss game. I see it as a "where we are as a unit/statement" game.
