PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks have declined to exercise the 2010 club option on infielder Chad Tracy.
Tracy, 29, hit .237 (61-for-257) with 15 doubles, eight home runs and 39 RBI in 98 games during the 2009 season. He started 66 games between first and third.
In 33 pinch-hit appearances, he hit .276 (8-for-29) with four runs scored, a double, three home runs, nine RBI and four walks. He was on the disabled list with a right oblique strain from May 30-June 30.
Tracy, who was the D-backs' seventh-round selection in the 2001 First-Year Player Draft, hit .280 (654-for-2338) with 153 doubles, nine triples, 78 home runs and 318 RBI in 704 games over parts of six seasons with the D-backs. As a pinch hitter, he hit .302 with nine doubles, five home runs, 24 RBI and 11 walks.
The Diamondbacks also announced other moves on Thursday. The team removed right-handed pitcher Daniel Cabrera, outfielder Trent Oeltjen and outfielder Alex Romero from the roster via outright to Triple-A Reno. Cabrera elected to become a free agent rather than accepting the assignment while Romero holds the same rights.
Right-handed pitcher Yusmeiro Petit was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners, and left-handed pitcher Doug Slaten was claimed off waivers by the Washington Nationals.
The moves bring the 40-man roster to 35 players.
