TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State University's Mike Nixon has been named one of the 20 quarterfinalists for the Lott Trophy.
The Lott Trophy is presented to college football's Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year each season.
Nixon leads the team with 34 tackles - 25 being solo. In the Sun Devils season opener Nixon had three interceptions - returning one for a touchdown - and blocked a punt. The senior was named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week and Lott Trophy IMPACT Player of the Week for that week.
Other accomplishments by Nixon so far this season are two pass break-ups, a forced fumble, tackle for a loss, and a half-sack.
Nixon is one of four Pac-10 players to make the list. UCLA's Brian Price and Alterraun Verner and USC's Taylor Mays are also quarterfinalists.
